stream of painful conciousness
It is the time of the semester when running has replaced walking, dashing into cabs, throwing in change, meetings after meetings. There are these deadlines marked out in bold red in square little boxes, to-do lists that extends weekend after weekend.2am and Joni Mitchell singing, “I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now”. Saturday morning rolling over and there is a dizzy feeling, but not light-headed happiness. A compelled need to record this moment down, thoughts that cannot be compartmentalized into labelled ring files. But words that come pouring into this rectangle. And Joni Mitchell still singing and singing, “clouds got in my way”. There is sleep as an option and waking up to decisions unmade. There is staying up with slow songs that comforts into these early mornings, ungodly, peaceful hours that are unbearable.

I thought the actual lyrics were:
"I looked at love from both sides now."
Anyway, this "helter-skelter, rush-and-crush" phenomena is a horizontal feeling that is shared by everyone, save for those who choose to withdraw from this ascribed membership. Actually, I wouldn't wanna mention such negativity, but somehow or rather, it will tend to get worse...LOL
So are you still pro-State? Haha
Is Joni Mitchell always this depressing? Remember Love Actually, when Alan Rickman gave his wife (Emma Thompson) a Joni Mitchell CD for the wedding anniversary gift - it seemed to encapsulate the extent of sorrow and wretched longing for attention and love from her own husband.
Maybe you shouldn't listen to Mitchell that much - for early mornings, go for Jewel (unplugged!), Tristan Prettyman or Feist.
yes daryl, i am still very much pro-state! haha, nafis hasnt changed my perception much. should i add a *beams or something?haha.
oh, it is "i've looked at clouds from both side now/from up and down..." and later "i've looked at love from both sides now". it's my fav song for the moment.: )
hmmm, i wasn't so much affected by this whole rushing about,hair-in-a-mess feeling but by other things. girls are emo creatures, right. haha did i say that? i'm doing gender studies this sem oh no.
love actually! haha harrison, it is depressing in a nice way, actually.but yeah, i'll try those you recommended.: ) how's school?
2am and I'm still awake
Writing this song
If I get it all down on paper
It's no longer inside of me
Threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
'Cos these words are my diary screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them however you want to
Correction: humans are emo creatures - it's just how well one hides it. Some choose to compensate it with their extroversion, some tend towards stoicism, while a select few offer the reason that they are taking gender studies and they are simply "getting into the character" to understand it better!
We all need a little Joni Mitchell sometime.
Don't you think this sem's zooming past real fast? Other than that, school's been really quite good - meeting new people, lunching again at the Deck (with ATAS stalls like Olio and Lerk Thai) and basically just trying to get used to the new dynamics of the sem.
How about you? Maybe I should nominate you as Most Likely to Be a Ninja - rarely see you around campus! Haha
